Response to 9/11 & War on
Terrorism
In response to the September 11, 2001 attacks on New York City and
the Pentagon:
Ps. 32:7: You (God in heaven, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ)
are my hiding place; you shall preserve me from trouble; you shall
compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah (think on these
things).
When David faced Goliath (in 1st Sam. 17:34), David encouraged
himself in the Lord by remembering how God helped him earlier overcome
the lion and the bear.
Our nation was birthed in a revolution against a nation that even
today uses a lion as their symbol: Great Britain, which history
tells us in 1776 and in 1812 was the world's superpower.
According to the World Book Encyclopedia, in August 1814 the British
army invaded Washington, D.C. and burned down the White House and
the U.S. Capitol Building!
The very next month, as the British were using ships in Baltimore
harbor to bombard U.S. Fort McHenry, Francis Scott Key wrote the
words which eventually became our national anthem--it was a song
of deliverance (Ps. 32:7) that God used as a prayer set to music,
to do a work in the spiritual realm, to lift the morale of our armed
forces, to replace the spirit of fear with God's power, love and
sound mind
(2nd Tim. 1:7).
The fourth verse of that song is as follows:
Oh! Thus be it ever
when freemen shall stand
between their loved
home
and the war's desolation
Blessed with victory and peace
May
the heaven-rescued land
Praise the power that has made
And preserved us a nation.
Then conquer
we must
when our cause it is just
And this be our motto
`In God
is our trust.'
And the Star-Spangled Banner
in triumph shall wave
Over the land of the free
and the home of the brave.
Then, in November 1861 during our Civil War, God gave America another
song of deliverance in the Battle Hymn of the Republic. The words
to this song were written by Julia Ward Howe after she accompanied
her husband to visit the Union troops protecting Washington, D.C.
from an expected Confederate attack.
The Union appeared to be losing the war at this point, and morale
was very low. The next morning Julia awoke at 5 A.M. and composed
the words we now call the Battle
Hymn of the Republic, with its familiar refrain: Glory, Glory, Hallelujah,
God's truth is marching on!
The Sampler of American Songs by Maymie R. Krythe tells us that
the first time Abraham Lincoln heard this song, he cried out with
tears streaming down his face, "Sing it again!" After
this song was distributed, the morale of the Union improved and
the war turned around toward eventual victory for the Union in 1865.
Again, we see how God gave us that song of deliverance in a time
of trouble, as a prayer set to music, to do a work in the spiritual
realm. Missionaries in recent years told us how Christians in Eastern
Europe used this same song in their struggle against communism.
We can use that same melody with the following words as another
verse of prayer set to music:
We praise the name of Jesus for His precious, precious blood!
O Yes, we praise the name of Jesus for His precious, precious blood!
O Yes, we praise the name of Jesus for His precious, precious blood!
Jesus' blood still heals our land!
Don't you let the devil fool ya!
Don't you let the devil fool ya!
Don't you let the devil fool ya!
Jesus' blood still heals our land!
and:
We plead the blood of Jesus over all our nation
Yes we plead the blood of Jesus over all our nation
Yes we plead the blood of Jesus over all our nation
Jesus' blood still heals our land!
(same chorus as above)
Here's another popular praise chorus from recent years:
We bring the sacrifice of praise, into the house of the Lord
We bring the sacrifice of praise, into the house of the Lord
And we offer up to You, the sacrifices of thanksgiving
And we offer up to You, the sacrifices of joy!
In praying over Washington, D.C. in our regular weekly prayer tour
on Sunday morning, September 9, 2001, just two days before the September
11th attack on New York City and the Pentagon, we received by the
Holy Spirit the following words as another verse of prayer to that
same melody:
We plead the blood of Jesus Christ,
over all this area right now!
We plead the blood of Jesus Christ,
over all this area right now!
And we claim God's protection,
over all this area, in Jesus' name!
And we claim God's protection,
over all this area, right now!
At the time we were in prayer about the massive and predicted-to-be
violent demonstrations against the World Bank that had been planned
for the last weekend in September in D.C. That World Bank meeting
was postponed in the aftermath of September 11th, but we can see
how God used that prayer set to music on September 9th to spare
Washington, D.C. from the much worse damage that could have happened
in the Sept. 11th attack, as subsequent news reports confirmed.
Here's another popular praise chorus from recent years, his one
based on Ps. 20:7:
Some trust in chariots, and some in horses,
But we will remember
the name of the Lord our God!
New words to that same melody:
Some trust in weapons of mass destruction
But we are covered by
the blood of Jesus Christ!
Here's another popular praise chorus from recent years,
this one
based on Ps. 125:1-2:
They that trust in the Lord, shall be as Mount Zion,
Which cannot be removed, but abideth forever!
As the mountains are round about Jerusalem,
So the Lord is round about His People,
So the Lord is round about His People,
From henceforth, even forever!
New words to that same melody:
We believe that we receive, total peace for all Jerusalem
Total peace for all Jerusalem,
From henceforth, even forever!
We believe that we receive, total peace for all the nations
Total peace for all the nations,
From henceforth, even forever!
Here's another popular praise chorus from recent years,
this one
based on Is. 53:1:
Whose report will you believe?
We shall believe the report of the Lord!(3X)
His report says I am healed
His report says I am filled
His report says I am free
His report says VICTORY!
New words to that same melody:
Whose report will you believe?
We shall believe the report of the Lord!(3X)
The terrorists did not kill us here
The anthrax did not kill us here
The sniper did not kill us here
We shall live and HAVE NO FEAR!

In our Wed. eve. prayer meeting on March 12, 2003 the Holy Ghost
brought
Isaiah 2:2-4 to our remembrance:
"And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain
of the Lord's house shall be established in the top of the mountains,
and shall be exalted above the hills, and all nations shall flow
unto it.
And many people shall go and say, 'Come ye, and let us
go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob;
and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths:
for out of Zion shall go forth the
law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.'
And he shall judge
among the nations, and shall rebuke many people:
and they shall
beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks:
nation shall not lift up sword
against nation, neither shall they learn war any more."
Kenneth Copeland in his January 2003 ministers conference
prayed over a U.S. military chaplain as a representative for all
our troops: "Lord, let this be a zero-casualty war."
Some
well-known Christian leaders have said that God showed them that
God would use 9/11 to break the
stronghold of Islam worldwide.
In our Wed. eve. Prayer meeting on
March19, 2003 the Holy Ghost brought the following old familiar
gospel chorus, based on Isaiah 2:4, tour remembrance for use, with
new words shown below, as a prayer set to music, related to the
war in Iraq at this time:
Original words: I'm gonna lay down my sword and shield
Down by the riverside (3X)
I'm gonna lay down my sword and shield Down by the riverside (2X)
I'm not gonna study war no more (6X)
New words: They're gonna lay down their weapons
In all of Iraq (3X)
They're gonna lay down their weapons
In all of Iraq (2X)
Saddam won't study war no more (6X)
More New words: They're gonna come now to Jesus
In all of Islam (3X)
They're gonna come now to Jesus In all of Islam (2X)
They're not gonna study war no more (6X)
They're gonna get saved and born again (6X)
Also especially appropriate as a prayer set to music at this time
is the 4th verse of the Battle Hymn of the Republic:
He is sounding forth the trumpet that shall never sound retreat;
He is shifting out the hearts of men before His judgment-seat:
Oh, be swift, my soul, to answer Him! Be jubilant, my feet! Our
God is marching on!
New words as prayers set to music to the tune of
"God Bless America"
Original words: God bless America
Land that I love
Stand beside her, and guide her
Through the night, with the light from above
From the mountains, to the prairies,
to the oceans, white with foam
God bless America My Home Sweet Home
New words: God bless our troops worldwide
By Jesus' blood
Stand beside them, and guide them
Through the night, with the light from above
From the mountains, to the prairies,
to the oceans, white with foam
God bless our troops worldwide
By Jesus' blood
God bless our leaders
By Jesus' blood
Stand beside them, and guide them
Through the night, with the light from above
With God's wisdom, and His strength in them,
and His protection, around us all
God bless our leaders
By Jesus' blood
Many experts say the future of Iraq is now hanging in the
balance, and it is not clear in the natural if America's current
efforts to establish peace and democracy will be successful in that
nation.
Recent news reports indicate that radical muslims are
streaming into Iraq to help attack the allied forces there. At
the same time some pro-American observers have indicated
that even if that's true, it's better to fight them in Iraq than
in
America.
With all that in mind, the following new words can be used
as a prayer for Iraq to the tune of "God Bless America."
God bless all of Iraq By Jesus' blood
Stand beside her, and guide her Through the night, with the light
from above
From the mountains, to the prairies, to the ocean, white with foam
God bless all of Iraq
By Jesus' blood!
Also: "God Bless Afghanistan," God Bless all of Israel,"
"God Bless all the Middle East," "God Bless All of
Korea" and "God Bless All the Nations."
Jesus is Lord!
PRAYING PSALM 91 FOR AMERICA
BECAUSE AMERICA DWELLS IN THE SECRET
PLACE OF THE MOST HIGH, AMERICA ABIDES UNDER THE SHADOW OF THE ALMIGHTY.
AND AMERICA CAN SAY OF THE LORD, HE IS OUR REFUGE AND OUR FORTRESS,
OUR GOD, IN HIM DO WE TRUST.
SURELY HE DELIVERS AMERICA FROM THE
SNARE OF FOWLER, AND FROM THE NOISOME PESTILENCE. HE COVERS AMERICA
WITH HIS FEATHERS AND UNDER HIS WINGS DO WE TRUST; HIS TRUTH IS
OUR SHIELD AND BUCKLER.
THEREFORE AMERICA IS NOT AFRAID FOR THE
TERROR BY NIGHT, NOR FOR THE ARROW THAT FLIES BY DAY, NOR FOR PESTILENCE
THAT WALKS IN DARKNESS, NOR FOR THE DESTRUCTION THAT WASTES AT NOONDAY.
THERE IS NO FEAR IN AMERICA.
EVEN IF A THOUSAND SHOULD FALL AT AMERICA'S
SIDE, OR TEN THOUSAND AT OUR RIGHT HAND, WE KNOW IT SHALL NOT COME
NEAR US; BUT ONLY WITH OUR EYES SHALL AMERICA BEHOLD AND SEE THE
REWARD OF THE WICKED.
BECAUSE AMERICA HAS MADE THE LORD, WHICH IS
OUR REFUGE, EVEN THE MOST HIGH, OUR HABITATION, THERE SHALL NO EVIL
BEFALL AMERICA, AND NO PLAGUE SHALL COME NIGH OUR DWELLING.
FOR
GOD HAS GIVEN HIS ANGELS CHARGE OVER AMERICA, TO KEEP US IN ALL
OUR WAYS. HIS ANGELS BEAR AMERICA UP IN THEIR HANDS, LEST WE DASH
OUR FOOT AGAINST A STONE.
AMERICA SHALL TREAD UPON THE LION AND
ADDER; EVERY DEMON SPIRIT SHALL AMERICA TRAMPLE UNDER FEET.
BECAUSE
AMERICA HAS SET OUR LOVE UPON GOD, THEREFORE HAS HE DELIVERED US.
GOD HAS SET AMERICA ON HIGH BECAUSE WE'VE KNOWN HIS NAME WHICH IS
JESUS. AMERICA CALLS UPON GOD AND HE ANSWERS US; GOD HAS BEEN WITH
AMERICA IN TROUBLE; HE HAS DELIVERED US AND HONORED US. WITH LONG
LIFE WILL GOD SATISFY AMERICA AND SHOW US HIS SALVATION.
(FROM THE PRAYER HANDBOOK OF THE NATIONAL PRAYER EMBASSY. FOR ANOTHER
VERSION OF THIS PRAYER, INSERT IN PLACE OF THE WORD "AMERICA"
THIS PHRASE: "AMERICA, ISRAEL AND THE WORLD")
